NAME Teresa DATEMay 31, 2009 08:28 AM LOCATIONIL RESPONSEI went to the holocaust museum for a field trip and before we went we read many books such as The Boy in the Striped Pajama's, Hana's Suitcase, Etc. The books were NOTHING like the tour through the museum. When I went to the museum my tour-guide was Jewish and she had a life experience through the Holocaust with her family and I learned so much of what her feelings were to each picture we saw and each thing we talked about she made a connection of her grandfather or herself. Then later on we met another survivor and her experience made most people cry. I became so so so interested I took matter into my own hands and I started to think of my family and how it would have been for me and my family to go through the Holocaust (I'm not Jewish though); I think of who would be gone day by day its someone new (I have a HUGE family) and so everyday there would be even more pain than usual. I am in 6th grade, I am 12 and if you dont know this much or think like this sometimes you need to learn more and stoop-up to my level. I try to help younger kids at the park and what I do is (SOMETIMES) try to teach them a little bit about TOLERANCE. But after I read about what the Jews have gone through. I have a whole new repsect for them. And some of the stuff is brutal and I only READ about it I can't imagine LIVING it. NAME Danielle DATEMay 14, 2009 10:18 AM LOCATIONWarren RI RESPONSEI had to read Night, for my English class and I wasn't really looking foward to it, but after reading the first 3 chapters I becamse hooked. If you never read it I really think you should it changed me. I always used to make fun of Jews. (I know that sounds really bad.)But, after reading Night I told my teacher and everyone else I knew that I would never make fun of Jews again. I feel really bad about that because anyone who goes through something like that doesn't and shouldn't be made fun of like that its really harsh. The people who lived through that did deserve it, NOBODY does. And the people who survived, are really amazing people. I don't cry often but when I do it's for a good cause. Terrible things and i saw the numbers of thousands of people that died. This was up in Boston Mass where it is a rememberance of that day. To see what people had to go through makes me so sad; I dont see how such individuals can be so cruel. Watching videos, looking at pictures, and reading "The Night" by survivor Elie Wiesel, made me cry. I couldnt even imagine the hatred and cruelty these people got towards them. Its very sad. Im glad that those who did survive got to share their stories with us. :( NAME Dr' Even Haim Yehudit DATEApril 28, 2009 10:35 AM LOCATIONIsrael RESPONSEI read the stories appears at "Life After" and I feel grief and sadness that the survivors had been through so much pain and they really couldnt do anything to handel with the unknown situation. I think this project is very important to anyone especially to me- Holocaust researcher. In fact this project contains just several stories and I am intersting in more: Like life after of Haim Solomon, Alfred Traum and the list is long. Would you be kind to tell me how to find the stories of more survivors after the Holocaust. I looked trought the Web and find just a few. One thing that I found particularly interesting is that he had changed his name three different times. After the survivor escaped, he had a hard time getting a job. I was surprised to learn how many survivors were still alive today. I was shocked to learn that the Nazi’s killed the people in the concentration camps many different ways. |
