I am a jew myself, so after hearing that there are some people who claim the Jews made up the Holocaust sickens me. Do they ask there self how the Jewish population had nearly halved itself within ten years? They did not make it up! The Holocaust changed the entire world, it put a new meaning to the words "genocide" and "racism." Other groups of people were also affected by this.
The Holocaust tore families apart. It ruined their lives. Many people had to re-construct their entire life after this horrific genocide. However, it is great that there is an entire day commemorated to the Holocaust.

Sincerely,
Jake

In class we created holocaust masks. It was a great way to learn about the holocaust and what happened in that horrible time. Creating a mask has helped me understand tolerance through the discussions taught during this lesson. People need to be tolerant around the world and it will create peace.

The Holocaust will never be forgotten, the terrible things that happen during those years were terrible, but those who were killed by gas champers and ovens, they were the bigger people, they were tolerent agaisnt the nazi, they stood tall and never gave up. At my school we had an activity were we make masks and design them however we want to resemble tolerance, and rememberance for the holocast. During this, I have learned tolerance, and what it means to be tolerant, we have to face tolerance.

I will continue to serve proudly and defend my country, so as to keep our freedom intact, and to not repeat those mistakes from the past. Crimes against humanity must not be tolerated, and all people should never be denied their right to choose for themselves. One saying that sticks in my mind, is "Evil thrives, where good men/women do nothing!" To do nothing feels like an insult to the memories of those who lost their lives, to not continue to preserve the way of life from which humanity learned it's mistake by not doing what matters!

I went to two Holocaust remembrance observations at the Fairfax site in Los Angeles. It was deeply moving. My father had three relatives that managed to escape from the concentration camps. One of his brothers managed to escape to either Peru or Argentina. I met three cousins on my father's side inj Chicago, around the time I graduated high school in 1948 and Israel was born as a nation.

I became interested in fighting hate when I was 14. Bess Myerson, Miss America of 1945 spoke on the theme, "You can't hate and be beautiful.". This inspired me to write compositions in English classes on "Anti-semitism in the United States" and major in psychlogy in college.

Now, I'm living in Hugoton, KS, and writing emails to President urging him, Hillary Clinton and Senator George Mitchell to convene a Pan-Arab-Israel conference to start the ball rolling on resolving the situation in the Mideast, establishing relations between Israel and all the Arab states, establishing a stronger United Nations that will end genocide once and for all throughout the planet.

I teach junior high geography at a Catholic grade school in NW Omaha. We are studying the history of Hana Brady of HANA'S SUITCASE and also the geography. We will map her life and also use Google Earth to look at Nove Mesto, Terezin and Auschwitz. On Friday we will go to the Jewish Community Center/ADL office and see a play based on her life as well as see a display in the center. One of the actors is a former student of mine. We made a timeline to investigate the sequence of events.
