Message: The qoute by Elie Wiesel brought me here because I was researching him for a school project. I think this memorial to the millions killed is absolutely phenominal. I think that every one needs to know about this to prevent it from ever happening again. I think that anything trying to make people remember what happened is great. If everyone in the world would mourn the victims it wouldn't even be close to the amount of pain and suffering they went through. Thank you for your time and patience for listening to what I have to say. |
Name: Erin S. December 15, 2006 03:00 AM | Location: Calgary, Alberta Message: We as a human race must unite and remember the innocent victims who perished as a result of the Holocaust during WW2. I have read countless stories about the pain, suffering, survival and ulitmately the triumph of them...we must not forget them because if we do then all that pain and what they went through...with the camps, the ghettos, the barbaric treatments, the horrific train rides, and the inhumane death marches...were in vain. They suffered soooo much and treated so cruelly....the least WE can do is remember and honor them. We need to remember the children who were ripped from the mother's arms and subsequently sent to their death; the elderly who should have been enjoying their twilight years after years of hard work but instead forced to endure inhumane and torturous times in the ghettos and then sent to their death in the camps; young adults forced to watch as their families were torn apart by the brutish Nazi's and helpless to do anything; we need to remember whole families perishing.... We need to never ever forget the atrocities committed because if we do then we are just as much to blame.... Their deaths were a lesson of how evil mankind can be to their fellow humans....we ALL need to breathe air, we ALL need food to survive, we ALL need to love to feel as if one belongs.....we ALL as a human RACE need to never forget! |
Name: Rayna Woodman (8th grade) November 29, 2006 01:30 AM | Location: Colorado Message: The tragic and horrible events of the Holocaust do not go unnoticed. Millions of men and women lost their lives and families because of their faith or race. Genicide on this sort of scale has not happened again in human history since then, but it may occur in te future. It is the job of the present generation to spread the word to prevent any mass murders like that of the Holocaust. Tyrannical leaders cannot be tolerated if the human population desires to continue without the mass extermination of a race or culture. We must raise awareness and fight for the rights of the people. Take advantage of International Holocaust Remembrance Day and teach about the horrible events in history, and perhaps inspire young men and women to make a difference in their communities. |
Name: Siddhartha Deka April 28, 2006 05:22 AM | Location: Bangalore, [ India] Message: I, thank, first of all USHMM, in giving me a chance to express my thoughts. I, have read about the tragedy, that ever had occured to humanity. It, makes me sad.Life that is lost, shall never return.People who suffered ,cannot live without the memory of it. The message of universal love lost its soul.Human compassion lost its path. So, lets pray that love and compassion should guide us, the present generation to, prevent such human tragedies in future. Let, us be compassionate towards anybody.Let us not be judgemental and choiceful of anybody, we human beings are all equal. ----------------------------------------------- |

Message: The Holocaust was a horrible experience for millions of people around the world. Most of these victims died because of their faith; hopefully, we will learn from our mistakes. Even though there hasn't been another mass genocide at the scale of the Holocaust, genocide still exists. Maybe one day the people of the world will change. |

Message: The Holocaust, I feel, was a vast destruction of people. It was devastating to the whole world in every form. Forever will it haunt the minds of those who survived. It should never be forgotten because the mass desecration of people based on their appearance, religion, and race is wrong. Never should something like this happen again. |

Message: Holocaust. That one word evokes black and white images of torture and inhumanity. Although I am neither Jewish nor of any of the groups persecuted in the concentration camps during WWII, I feel a strong sense of grief and shame for the inhumanity and intolerance practiced during that time. It is hard to think that the prejudices of one man - Adolph Hitler - could nearly wipe out an entire race of people. I hope that the stories of tragedy will be spread to present and future generations so nothing like the Holocaust will ever happen again. |
